Governor Kasich Appoints Susan Allan Block to OAC Board

COLUMBUS, Ohio— Governor John R. Kasich has appointed Susan Allan Block of Toledo to the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Board for a term ending July 1, 2019.

“We are ecstatic to welcome Susan Allan Block to the Ohio Arts Council. It is wonderful to have a representative from northwest Ohio, and we know that Susan’s unique background and varied interests will be a great complement to our mission,” said OAC Board Chair Jeffrey A. Rich.

susan allan block headshotOriginally from Massachusetts, Ms. Block is a graduate of Wagner College with a degree in Economics and studied Art History at Hunter College, both in New York City. After 20 years in corporate America she followed her dream to Paris, where she studied and worked in the culinary arts. In 2014, Ms. Block opened her patisserie, Vendome Pastry, in Toledo. 

Ms. Block is a member of the Toledo Zoo Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee for the YMCA/JCC of Greater Toledo. She is also a trustee for Lourdes University in Sylvania, a member of a special advisory committee for The Toledo Area Humane Society, and a former trustee for the Toledo Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The OAC Board is composed of 15 voting members and four non-voting members—two each from the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives.

All appointments remain subject to the advice and consent of the Ohio Senate.
