Quilt National '09
Quilt National '09 comes to the Riffe Gallery from the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio. The exhibition is the 16th biennial juried exhibition of innovative art quilts and demonstrates the transformations taking place in the world of quilting. This exhibition is produced and circulated by the Dairy Barn Southeastern Ohio Cultural Arts Center, Athens, Ohio.
Join the Riffe Gallery for the opening of Quilt National ’09 on November 12 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Quilt National Director Kathleen M. Dawson will lead a tour of the exhibition on November 13 from noon – 1 p.m.

Join us for Family Day on Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 2 – 4 p.m. Local artist Melissa Vogley-Woods will help children age 6 – 17 explore traditional quilt patterns as a basis for personal discovery. All participants will work with translucent layers of fabric, building up images with drawing, stitches and collage over a pattern-based fabric. No sewing skills are required. Registration is required as space is limited and all children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Registration begins November 12 and ends December 4, 2009. The Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery showcases the work of Ohios
artists and the collections of the states museums and galleries.
The Riffe Gallery is located in the Vern Riffe Center for the Government
and the Arts, across from the Statehouse on High Street in Downtown Columbus.
Due to state regulations refreshments cannot be provided by the Riffe Gallery.

Tuesday 10 – 4 p.m.
Wednesday and Friday 10 – 5:30 p.m.
Thursday 10 – 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday noon – 4 p.m.
Closed Mondays and state holidays. During Quilt National '09 the gallery will also be closed December 24 and clsoing at 5:30 p.m. on December 31.

The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) will place several programs on a funding hiatus during the FY2010/2011 biennium and reduce one program to a single deadline. The International Partnership and Capacity Building programs will be on hiatus for FY2010, Arts Innovation and International Partnership for FY2011 and the Arts Access program will accept applications only at the March 1, 2010 deadline.
