Peoples strongly believes that fostering creativity and promoting the arts can help stimulate local economies and cultivate vibrant communities and it supports numerous cultural initiatives like concerts and children's music, arts centers, museums, and art and theater programs. Recently, Peoples was privileged to help renovate the Peoples Bank Theatre, a historic landmark in downtown Marietta. Associates worked closely with theatre representatives and civic leaders to help turn the dream of reopening the historic theatre into a reality that draws entertainers from around the globe. With the restoration complete, Peoples Bank came full circle in its support as it was a lead sponsor in the theatre’s very first production nearly a century ago in 1919.

“Peoples Bank worked closely with theatre representatives and civic leaders to help turn the dream of reopening the historic theatre into a reality and providing a unique entertainment venue for the region.”

R. Hunt Brawley, J.D. | Peoples Bank Theatre | Executive Director

“We are on schedule to feature close to one hundred events a year and one million dollars in annual operation. None of this would be possible without Peoples Bank contributions of approximately $640,000 in cash gifts and $3.7 million in State and Federal Historic tax credit investment.”

Joe A. Matthews | City of Marietta | Mayor

“The opening of the theatre has certainly been a boost to the economy of downtown Marietta. There have been many out-of-town people coming to the shows at the theatre. Local citizens and out of town visitors are having dinner and staying in motels.”

Marshall C. Kimball | Marietta College | Music Department Chairman, Associate Professor of Music, and Director of Bands and Instrumental Activities

“The generosity of Peoples Bank on the restoration of the theatre has brought the arts community to life in Marietta with various fine arts performances possible because this venue exists. Acts that range from dance, magic, music, theatrical productions, and more are now possible in a beautiful facility.”
